Going on in December

GOING ON IN GATLINBURG, PIGEON FORGE & ASHEVILLE: "Gatlinburg welcomes the arrival of 2007 with a street party that begins around 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. An estimated crowd of 40,000 revelers gather in the streets of downtown Gatlinburg. At the stroke of midnight, the sky will light up with a fireworks and music show produced by Pyro Shows of Lafollette, TN. The event is free to the public and features music and free party favors.
“It has become a tradition for families from across America to come back to celebrate the New Year here in Gatlinburg,” says George Hawkins, Gatlinburg Department of Tourism Special Events Manager. Performers from Hard Rock Café entertain the crowd along with Rich Bailey of Star 102.1 providing music in the streets. The entire city of Gatlinburg celebrates New Year’s Eve in a big way with many restaurants and attractions offering special celebrations."
